Amazon.de:
Steven Spielbergs Minority Report spielt in der auf
beunruhigende Weise gar nicht so fernen Zukunft des Jahres 2054
und ist sicherlich der intelligenteste und provokanteste
Science-Fiction-Thriller seit Blade Runner.
daherkommt. --Jeff Shannon

Sheer
Bliss is a movie that rises above the general stupidity that
is so typical of today's "teen movies" and has a
surprising amount of substance. Perhaps this is because it
takes place after college, but the characters are not as
juvenile and the movie isn't about grossing the audience
out. Naturally, with the presence of American Pie's Eddie
Kaye Thomas and newcomer Justin Urich, the film definitely
has its characters of comic relief. Primarily a love story
about a guy chasing after a girl (who has a boyfriend), it
doesn't drag on like so many other such films(Loser for
instance). Having seen both the original version of the film
in its rough form and the final version, the director did a
fine job of cutting excess baggage and allowing the film to
move along. The skiing in the film is well done with
cinematography to match. Supporting characters to newcomer
Milo Ventimiglia (who is likeable without being sappy and
pathetic) are well done and come off as people you would
like to know. Maggie Lawson as Michelle is a great character
simply because she is smart, funny and sexy. A rare trio for
female characters in "teen" movies. The movie is a
great mixture of comedy, drama and romance, and definitely a
good date movie. It's worth seeing, because despite how it
may be advertised, it is a departure from the traditional
teen flick.
Also, for you James Bond fans out there, one-time James Bond
George Lazenby makes an appearance as Campbell. It's nice to
see him after 32 years.

Larry
Gigli (Ben Affleck) is a low-level Los Angeles mob
enforcer. His volatile boss, Louis (Lenny Venito), hires
Gigli to kidnap Brian (newcomer Justin Bartha), the
mentally handicapped younger brother of a federal
prosecutor who's about to bring Louis' boss to trial in
New York. Gigli gets the kid home without a hitch. Then a
beautiful woman (Jennifer Lopez) shows up at his door. She
says her name is Ricki, and Gigli soon learns that the
nervous Louis has hired her to keep an eye on him.
"In every relationship," Gigli soon finds
himself expounding to his unwanted partner, "there's
a bull and a cow." His efforts to maintain control of
the situation are further hampered by the brief appearance
of the insane Detective Stanley Jacobellis (Christopher
Walken) and a forced visit to his overbearing mother's
(Lainie Kazan) house. To make matters worse, when Gigli
expresses his attraction to Ricki, he learns that she's a
lesbian. She, meanwhile, proves herself considerably more
capable than the lunkheaded Gigli, winning their war of
words and even scaring off a rowdy group of high school
kids. As Gigli and Ricky continue to look after the young,
innocent Brian, they find themselves increasingly
attracted to one another. But their potential budding
romance is put on hold when Starkman (Al Pacino) arrives
from New York, angry about how his affairs are being
handled. Director Martin Brest, in his first film since
1998's Meet Joe Black, returns to the crime comedy genre
that made his reputation. Brest also wrote the script for
Gigli, his first since 1979's Going in Style. Stars
Affleck and Lopez began a well-publicized romantic
relationship on the set of the film.

Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farrell swagger through
S.W.A.T., a guns-and-big-trucks macho extravaganza based on
the 1970s TV show of the same name, about the police teams
brought in to take care of extremely dangerous situations.
Jackson plays a sergeant brought out of retirement to form a
new squad, which includes rebellious Farrell (The Recruit)
and tough babe Michelle Rodriguez (Girlfight, Blue Crush).
After a lot of training and head-butting with a smarmy
police captain, the squad gets assigned to transfer the head
of a European crime cartel (Olivier Martinez, Unfaithful)
who's declared on television that he'll give $100 million to
anyone who gets him out. Every scumbag in Los Angeles
descends to claim the money, turning a routine transfer into
a bullet-filled gauntlet. Despite some gaps in logic and a
generic flavor, S.W.A.T. will satisfy most action-movie
junkies. Also featuring LL Cool J and Josh Charles. --Bret

From
Amazon.com:
Despite the usual symptoms of sequelitis, c delivers
the goods for those who enjoyed the 2001 original--a
group large enough to propel this sequel to a
record-setting opening in August 2003. While
establishing the flesh-eating "Creeper" as a
new horror icon with frantic action and more elaborate
special effects, writer-director Victor Salva follows
the traditional formula, dispensing with plot almost
altogether and focusing entirely on threat, menace,
mayhem, and gore. That's likely to disappoint horror
fans hoping for a more revealing exploration of the
Creeper's origins (room for another sequel, perhaps?),
and by trapping nondescript teens in a school bus
attacked by the Creeper, Salva severely limits the
movie's overall potential. Still, there's something to
be said for straightforward shocks, and Jeepers
Creepers 2 delivers enough of them to justify its
profitable existence. --Jeff Shannon

Kermit takes center stage in this hilarious, parody-laden
celebration of Muppetry, pulsating with original music, a
star-studded cast of human cameos, and a heartwarming story
reminiscent of It's a Wonderful Life. Joan Cusack plays the
deliciously villainous Miss Bitterman, a ruthless banker who
succeeds in foreclosing on the Muppet Theatre only days before
Kermit's Christmas extravaganza. As Kermit loses his livelihood,
he plunges into the "I wish I'd never been born"
mind-set instantly recognizable to George Bailey fans. It's
going to take some Divine intervention (Whoopi Goldberg is cast
as God, no less), plus a little help from a heavenly
"Clarence." Despite some moments where the script
seems adrift (how hard it must be to live up to the irresistible
precedent set by the 1979 premier Muppet Movie) and some humor
that borders on risqué, Fozzie and the gang are in fine form.
The message is sweet: dreams are as vital to life as loyal
friendships are to see them through. (Ages 5 and older) --Lynn

The
whole family has a secret love affairs. Before the secret love
affairs, there was no amusement. A typical dysfunctional
family working tediously to keep the family together. Life
suppressed from excitement-- surrounded by total boredom and
stress. However, the story plot soon transcends the
traditional ?family values? as characters open up to their
sexuality. The husband, a lawyer, has an affair with a younger
woman. The wife starts up an affair with the high school boy
next door. Even the husband's elderly mother is seeing another
man, and having sex for the first time in 15 years. The sudden
outburst in the plot is comically exhilarating, yet morally
degrading. It seems at first that the director is advocating
more openness and honesty within families, even at the expense
of marital fidelity. Yet as the movie progresses, the mood
darkens. Many of the male characters struggle with guilt; the
husband's father, for example, drinks to wash away the memory
of leaving his own family in the North during the Korean War.

A
peak achievement of Japanese anime, Ninja Scroll is a
propulsive mix of samurai action adventure and supernatural
fantasy from writer-director Yoshiaki Kawajiri (Supernatural
Best City). This is defiantly animation for grown-ups,
complete with fountains of blood, plenty of naked flesh, and
(in both the subtitled and dubbed versions) some decidedly
strong language. (Students of Japanese language could pick
up some useful expressions.) The plot sounds like a 16th
century variation on the X-Files: An entire village has been
wiped out by a mysterious plague and an anti-government
conspiracy of invulnerable demons seems to be responsible. A
wandering ninja, Jubei, and his female counterpart, Kagero,
team up to defeat the plotters. Jubei is a classic reluctant
hero, agreeing to participate in the mission only after
being fed a slow-acting poison; the antidote will be
supplied after he cooperates. And Kagero, a looker whose
embrace is lethal, is a femme fatale with a difference that
seems distinctively Japanese: sexual contact itself is
poisonous, especially for a warrior with a pure soul.
