De succesvolle boekenreeks van De Kameleon gelezen door jong en oud is nu ook op het witte doek te zien! Hielke en Sietse zijn de beroemde en ‘beruchte’ tweeling van smid Klinkhamer uit het Friese dorp Lenten. Deze belhamels hebben maar één droom: een eigen boot. Als op een dag die droom eindelijk uitkomt, beleven de jongens grote avonturen als De Schippers van de Kameleon! Hielke (Koen van der Donk) en Sietse (Jos van der Donk) zijn de tweeling van Mem (Dominique van Vliet) en Heit Klinkhamer (Steven de Jong). Hun beste vriend Gerben (Maarten Spanjer) is veel ouder dan de jongens. Hij neemt ze regelmatig in de maling. Toch heeft hij z’n hart op de juiste plek zitten. Veldwachter Zwart (Rense Westra) houdt de drie bengels goed in de gaten, zodat de rest van het dorp niet al te veel last heeft van hun streken. Misschien doet Zwart dat eigenlijk wel té goed, want daardoor heeft hij geen oog meer voor echt gespuis, zoals de nozems... Als het dorp onverwachts door een zware storm wordt getroffen, blijken Hielke en Sietse meer in hun mars te hebben. De dokter komt door de heftige regenval te water met z’n auto en de tweeling roept Heit om de dokter uit het wrak te bevrijden. Deze heldendaad wordt beloond met de motor uit het wrak. Die kunnen ze mooi in hun nieuwe boot monteren! Een langverwachte droom gaat dan eindelijk in vervulling: Hielke en Sietse hebben hun eigen speedboot! De boot wordt geschilderd in alle kleuren van de regenboog en De Kameleon kan te water. Met De Kameleon kan de tweeling zich nog meer uitleven dan voorheen. Amazon.de: Nach seiner sehr zurückhaltenden, sich ganz dem Stück unterordnenden Version von Ein perfekter Ehemann hat Oliver Parker nun mit Ernst sein ist alles eine weitere Komödie Oscar Wildes verfilmt. Doch diesmal hat er sich dabei weit größere Freiheiten erlaubt. So setzen hier zwei der Hauptfiguren ihrer Liebe ein dauerhaftes Zeichen, indem sie sich den Namen des anderen an eine höchst intime Stelle tätowieren lassen. Zudem gibt es hier auch noch einige Traum- und Fantasiesequenzen, die den Rahmen jeder Bühne sprengen würden; und einige der Charaktere haben nun einen ganz neuen Hintergrund. Bedenkt man dann noch die kurze Verfolgungsjagd, die rasanten Ortswechsel und den Jazz-Score aus den 20er-Jahren, kann kein Zweifel mehr bestehen: Oliver Parker wandelt bei seinem dritten Kinofilm erstmals auf den Spuren Baz Luhrmanns. Gäbe es nicht schon eine Shakespeare-Komödie dieses Titels, dann hätte Ernst sein ist alles auch "Viel Lärm um nichts" heißen können. Die Irrungen und Wirrungen, in denen sich Algernon "Algy" Moncrieff (Rupert Everett), seine Kusine Gwendolen Fairfax (Frances O'Connor), sein bester Freund Jack Worthing (Colin Firth) und dessen Mündel Cecily Cardew (Reese Witherspoon) eine Zeit lang zu verlieren scheinen, sind letztlich ganz und gar unbedeutend und lösen sich dann auch wie in Luft auf. Oscar Wilde hat mit den Eskapaden seiner beiden leichtlebigen Gentlemen und den seltsamen Vorlieben ihrer Auserwählten, die glauben, einen Mann nur dann lieben zu können, wenn er Ernst heißt, die Albernheiten der englischen Salonkomödie auf ihre aphoristische Spitze getrieben. Jeder Dialog gleicht hier einem regelrechten Feuerwerk sprachlichen Witzes. Anders als viele Stücke, die an Modernisierungen, wie Oliver Parker sie hier vorgenommen hat, zweifellos scheitern würden, ist Ernst sein ist alles so ziemlich für jeden Regieeinfall offen. Wilder, fast schon maßloser Unernst lädt einen Filmemacher geradezu ein, seiner Fantasie freien Lauf zu lassen. Auch wenn längst nicht jede Idee Oliver Parkers zu überzeugen vermag, so fällt das nicht weiter ins Gewicht, denn am Ende sind Oscar Wildes Sprache sowie sein unvergleichlicher Witz das Entscheidende. Und gerade auf dieser Ebene überzeugt Ernst sein ist alles voll und ganz. Rupert Everett ist sowieso der geborene Wilde-Schauspieler. Wie er jedes Wort durch Mimik und Gestik entweder unterstreicht oder konterkariert und so eine Figur erschafft, die weitaus vielschichtiger ist, als man zunächst glaubt, ist einfach phänomenal. Aber auch seine Mitspieler stehen Everett in nichts nach. Sie alle sind von einer schier unglaublichen Spielfreude erfüllt, die diese reizende Petitesse zu einem großen Vergnügen macht. Drei Hexen weissagten ihm, er werde nicht eher besiegt, bis die Bäume des Waldes von Birnam auf sein Schloß vorrücken. Eines Tages geschieht das scheinbar Unmögliche... Die siebzehnte Leinwandversion des Klassikers ist so «echt», wie es nur geht: Roman Polanski drehte an «Originalschauplätzen» im schottischen Hochgebirge eine von Natur aus dramatische Kulisse, wie sie kein Studio der Welt bieten kann. Wichtiger aber ist, daß er sich genau an die Originaldialoge von William Shakespeare hielt. Dabei fügt sich die dichterische Sprache dank ausgezeichneter Darsteller nahtlos in die filmisch-realistische Umgebung ein. Polanskis «Macbeth» ist die grimmigste, aber damit auch originalgetreueste Shake-speare-Adaption der Kinogeschichte: ein Meisterwerk.
